William Johnson, a freed person of color living in antebellum Natchez, kept an
extensive diary of his life. This diary is one of the few first-person accounts
of the life of a free person of color living in the South during this period.
William Johnson's house was restored by the National Park Service in 2005 and
EDX designed exhibits for the first floor.
National Park Service Director Fran Mainella cuts the ribbon at the
William Johnson House opening in 2005.
